Hechicero & Team Mexico Wins 2026 CMLL International Grand Prix Tournament
Friday’s CMLL International Grand Prix 2026 event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico featured Team Mexico defeating Team World to become the winners of this year’s International Grand Prix tournament.
After a series of eliminations, Hehicero defeated Claudio Castagnoli to be the last man standing in the match and give the victory to Team Mexico.

This year’s tournament featured 22 competitors with Team Mexico featuring Xelhua, Volador Jr., Titán, Último Guerrero, Máscara Dorada, Hechicero, Templario, Ángel de Oro, Bárbaro Cavernario, Soberano Jr., & Místico. Team World featured PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, Orange Cassidy, Bandido, Roderick Strong, DOUKI, Yujiro Takahashi, Austin Aries, Blake Christian, Leon Cage, & Rohan Raja.
TNA Reportedly Planning To Bring In More Women Wrestlers After Recent Knockouts Division Departures
Since the start of 2026, TNA Wrestling has seen a large amount of talent depart from the company despite their new television deal with AMC. TNA’s Knockouts division has been his the hardest with Dani Luna, Tessa Blanchard, Myla Grace, Victoria Crawford, Mara Sade, and Jody Threat being among those who were released or departed from the company.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that TNA officials are currently planning to bring in more women’s talent after the recent departures of Sade and Threat, among others.
In recent weeks, TNA has signed indies talent Gabby Forza to an official contract and had officially announced Allie had signed a new contract with the company this past June.
Bobby Steveson Says He Survived Lightning Strike Incident
Bobby Steveson, former Damon Kemp in WWE NXT, announced on Friday on Instagram that he survived a recent lighting strike incident.
No other details were given by Steveson regarding this lighting strike incident.
“Survived my first and hopefully last lightning strike.”

As noted before, New Orleans Saints WR Brock Rechsteiner, son of WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner, was recently suspended for the first six games of the 2026 NFL season for an undisclosed reason. The Saints recently provided an update stating that Rechsteiner had violated the NFL-NFLPA’s performance-enhancing substances policy for the official reason for the suspension.
CMLL reportedly drew an attendance of around 13,200 for their July 31st Viernes Espectacular event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City and around 10,000 for their Aug. 4th AEW x CMLL event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
NJPW reportedly drew a paid attendance of 1,271 for their July 31st G1 Climax 2026 event in Takamatsu, 2,255 for their Aug. 1st G1 Climax 2026 event in Hiroshima2,306 for their Aug. 2nd G1 Climax 2026 event in Fukuoka, and 1,494 for their Aug. 6th G1 Climax 2026 event in Tokyo, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Stardom reportedly drew a paid attendance of 480 for their Aug. 1st 5STAR Grand Prix 2026 event in Sendai, 786 for their Aug. 2nd 5STAR Grand Prix 2026 event in Utsunomiya, and 1,249 for their Aug. 3rd 5STAR Grand Prix 2026 event in Tokyo, Japan, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
As noted before, Major League Wrestling recently moved their upcoming Slaughterhouse 2026 event and MLW Fusion tapings on October 3 from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to a new location and city of the Center Stage in Atlanta, Georgia due to claims of “breach of contract” by the 2300 Arena. Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the reason for the location change is currently believed to be related to a financial issue regarding the gate revenues from MLW’s last show at the 2300 Arena.
Former AEW and ROH and current MLW talent Lady Frost announced this past Thursday on Twitter that she is “blessed to be cancer-free” following a recent health scare. Frost stated “Been a bit checked out with a recent [health] scare. Ladies, get your mammograms!! Anyway, blessed to be cancer-free and back on the hunt.
