As noted before, a group of WWE shareholders filed a lawsuit in November of 2023 against former TKO and WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon over claims that McMahon had engaged in a “sham sale process” for WWE’s sale to Endeavor. McMahon, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE President Nick Khan, and others executives were accused of destroying evidence related to the lawsuit. Both McMahon and Khan were sanctioned by the court this past May for destroying evidence related to the lawsuit case. An agreement in principle for a settlement deal was reached this past June resulting in the trial for the lawsuit being cancelled.
Post Wrestling’s Neal Flanagan reported that WWE’s portion of the proposed settlement deal for the lawsuit is $105 million.
Flanagan reported that this amount was revealed in an SEC filing earlier today by TKO Group.
In the filing, TKO stated that probable insurance recoveries are expected to cover $75 million and WWE would record an expected loss of $30 million.
Flanagan reported that this filing did not disclose the overall settlement amount to be paid to WWE’s shareholders but it did state that the amount is currently expected to be funded primarily through insurance. Flannagan also reported that WWE being required to pay a potion was due to pre-existing obligations to indemnify former directors.
Post Wrestling and Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported that details regarding this settlement deal and total amount will likely become clear in further legal filings.
