Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shingo Takagi Set for NJPW Destruction In Kobe 2026

New Japan Pro Wrestling announced one new match for the card of Destruction in Kobe 2026, which takes place on September 27 at the Kobe World Memorial Hall in Kobe, Japan.

This new match announced was a singles match of Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shingo Takagi.

This new match was initially setup following a challenge Takagi issued to Castagnoli backstage during this past July’s G1 Climax 2026 event. Takagi blamed Castagnoli for throwing him off his rhythm after his tag team loss to him earlier that month in AEW for the reason for his poor performance in this year’s G1 Climax tournament.

Wednesday’s NJPW Road to Destruction 2026 event in Tokyo, Japan featured Unbound Co. (Robbie X & Takagi) defeating Master Wato & Oleg Boltin in a tag team match. Following the match, a video aired on the big screen featuring Castagnoli accepting Takagi’s challenge for Destruction in Kobe.

“Shingo. I don’t speak Japanese, but I understood every word of your message to me. It was ‘Wah, wah, wah wah wah wah wah wah wah.’ You want me to come to Kobe to teach you another lesson? No problem. Judging by what you said, that means you’ll have another two years of bad luck coming afterwards. Be careful what you wish for, little man. In Kobe, I’ll show you who the boss is.”
