Jake Hager Undergoes Emergency Eye Surgery After Scary Injury At 9/17 Power Slap Event

Thursday’s Power Slap 23 event in Lubbock, Texas featured former WWE and AEW talent Jake Hager suffering a very serious eye injury.

During his match against Johnny Magna, Magna struck Hager very hard in the eye area causing Hager’s left eye to get busted open and started bleeding. This led to the match being quickly called off and Magna being declared the winner by TKO.

Following the match, Power Slap founder Dana White stated during the broadcast that Hager’s injury was “probably one of the worst injuries we’ve had in UFC and Power Slap anything.” White also speculated that Hager suffered a ruptured tear duct. White also refused to allow production to air any replays of Hager’s injury.

Following the show, Hager’s life partner Patricia Blackburn issued an official statement stating that Hager underwent emergency eye surgery.

“Thank you to the UFC and Power Slap family for the incredible love and support you’ve shown Jake during this difficult time. Jake is currently recovering from an emergency eye surgery. We’re taking things one day at a time and keeping the details private, but your kindness, support, and genuine concern have meant more than you know. Thank you for being there for Jake. We’re so grateful to be part of a community that shows up when it matters most.”

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Hager nearly got into a confrontation with members of a college basketball team after his recent Power Slap loss to Magna.
