Rey Mysterio on His Interest In Potential Another World Title Run, His Retirement Plans Being “I’m Just Going To Wing It”, & Him Hoping For Special WWE Moment With Dominik And Aalyah

MuscleManMalcom held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio. One of the topics discussed included Mysterio’s thoughts about his interest in pursing another potential World Championship run in the future.

“Man, you never know. Never say never. I think I’ve proven myself to still be able to compete (against) whoever they put in front of me. So I’m down to have another title run. Just put it in front of me and I’ll take advantage of it. Trust me.”

In a separate recent interview with the BANG Showbiz podcast, Mysterio also gave his thoughts about his retirement plans for his in-ring wrestling career and how he is just going to “wing it” instead of having any real plans for it.

“I’m loving the process right now of enjoying the moments as they come. Before, it was maybe a little bit more stressful because you were working constantly four or five days a week. But now it’s been like, okay, with the GM role and AAA and then wrestling on Raw, I kind of vibe that program. I don’t mind it at all. I enjoy it.

Cause I’m still on both sides of the spectrum, and I’m learning as I’m growing still. So, it’s really fun. I think I’m just going to wing it and see where this road takes me, because I’m really enjoying the moments right now that I’m living inside the ring, whether as a wrestler or as a GM.”

In a different separate recent interview with The Sun, Mysterio also gave his thoughts about how his daughter Aalyah training for a wrestling career has now created another personal goal for his wrestling career of wanting to share the ring with her and his son Dominik.

“I have my daughter training, I mean, that’s, that’s like a different thing for me. I would really love to be able to try and share the ring with both. Why not? I don’t think it’s ever been done in history, so to be able to share the ring with my daughter and my son, it would be something. It’s a personal hope or dream of mine.”

Mysterio also gave his thoughts about revisiting his rivalry with Dominik and compared it with the iconic film franchises Rocky and Terminator.

“I think going back with Dom, you know, you’ve seen Rocky, Rocky 2, Rocky 3, and you know, maybe you thought that was the ending? And then all of a sudden you get another Rocky. Or the Terminator, whatever it is. Those movies that are legendary and are classics; to this day, you can enjoy. I think that can always happen with Dom and myself.

Maybe we thought that was a finale or an ending, but the story is always there. It’s very accessible to knock back on that door and reopen that. So, I mean, yeah, that was my original thought [Dom retiring him] from the moment my son stepped in. It just it happened so fast. His growth happened so fast that I didn’t think it was gonna come within 2-3 years after him breaking into the business. It’s crazy.”
