Cauliflower Alley Club Issues Statement on Ric Flair Not Appearing at 60th Annual Reunion Event

As noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was absent from his scheduled appearance for the Cauliflower Alley Club held their 60th annual reunion event on August 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada due to a blood clot in his leg medical issue. Flair appeared at the event in video to receive his Iron Mike Mazurki Award, which was accepted by WWE Hall of Famers Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jimmy Hart in-person on his behalf.

The Cauliflower Alley Club issued an official statement on Tuesday about Flair’s abscense from their recent event due to a medical issue.

Professional wrestling has long lived by a familiar phrase: “The card is subject to change.” Unfortunately, sometimes circumstances arise that are beyond the control of the talent or the promoter. When that happens, the responsibility is to communicate openly and make every reasonable effort to deliver something meaningful in its place.
We recognize and understand the disappointment expressed by some members regarding Ric Flair’s inability to attend our recent reunion in person. Many traveled to the reunion looking forward to seeing the “Nature Boy,” and we do not dismiss that disappointment.
Upon learning that Ric would be unable to appear, Club President B. Brian Blair addressed the situation directly with our membership on Monday evening.
The Club then worked on extremely short notice to secure WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler to appear at the reunion.
At the same time, we continued working with Ric Flair’s management to ensure that he could participate in the event. Those efforts resulted in Ric appearing virtually to accept his honor—the first virtual appearance of its kind in Cauliflower Alley Club reunion history.
Would we have preferred to have Ric standing before the membership in person? Absolutely. We know many of our members would have preferred that as well.
But his inability to be physically present does not diminish a career spanning more than five decades, nor does it disqualify the achievements for which his peers selected him to receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award. The award recognizes a body of work and a lasting contribution to professional wrestling.
Those accomplishments remain unchanged by an unavoidable absence on one evening.
The Cauliflower Alley Club exists to celebrate the people who built and sustained our industry and, above all, to foster the friendship and fraternity that have defined this organization since 1968.
We appreciate the passion of our members, including those who have expressed disappointment, and we are grateful to everyone who helped us adapt when circumstances changed.
The card was subject to change. The respect behind the honor was not.

Paramount recently released a new trailer for their upcoming live action Street Fighter film. This upcoming film features Cody Rhodes portraying Guile, Roman Reigns portraying Akuma, and Hirooki Goto portraying E. Honda among its cast.

Stardom announced that Sayaka Kurara has been pulled from their upcoming September 6 event in Tokyo and September 12th event in Yokohama, Japan due to her receiving treatment for an undisclosed injury.

PROGRESS Wrestling recently announced that Steph De Lander will be making an appearance for the company at their When September Ends event on September 27 in London, England.

Game Changer Wrestling recently announced that Marko Stunt will be making an appearance for the company at their Rock Bottom event on September 25 in Detroit, Michigan and their The Score event on September 26 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Pro Wrestling NOAH announced that they have pulled Eita from their upcoming N-1 Victory 2026 tour due to him recently suffering an undisclosed injury. Eita was not scheduled to be one of the competitors for this year’s tournament but had been scheduled to compete in undercard matches at tournament events.

Beyond Wrestling recently announced that they will be holding a new co-promoted Wrestival series of events on December 31 to January 1, 2027 in Worcester, Massachusetts. It was announced that CZW, Pro Wrestling Junkie, Wrestling Open, Wrestling REVOLVER, WWR+, WWE ID, and more promotions are scheduled to be holding shows at this upcoming event.

This past Saturday’s NWA Powerrr show on Comet TV featured Hayden Backlund defeating Axton Ray, Damian Fenrir, and Richard Adonis in a Four-way match to become the new NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion.

In a recent interview with New Japan Pro Wrestling’s NJPW1972.com, 2026 G1 Climax winner Ryohei Oiwa gave his thoughts about WWE Hall of Famers Bret “The Hitman” Hart and Ricky Steamboat being his inspiration for the style of match he wrestled in the Finals of this year’s G1 Climax tournament against Yuya Uemura, Oiwa stated ““I learned a lot from watching old school guys in America as well, Bret Hart and Ricky Steamboat.”

WWE Hall of Famer Kane, real name Glen Jacobs, officially finished his eight-year term limit tenure as the Mayor of Knox County on Tuesday. In a recent interview with WATE, Jacobs gave his thoughts about the future of his political career, Jacobs stated “Ultimately, the measure of a mayor is ‘did you leave your community in a better place than when you started?’ Overall, I feel that is what has happened here. Knox County was already the best place to live, work, and raise a family. I hope working together, we’ve made it even better than it was eight years ago. PRODUCE Wrestling recently announced that indies talent KJ Orso recently signed a multi-fight deal with the company. It was announced that Orso will be competing at their Volume 5 event on October 12 in Brooklyn, New York and their Volume 6 event on October 22 in Los Angeles, California.
