QT Marshall Defends Steven Borden Over Lack Of Training Criticism From Eric Bischoff Following Borden’s Head Injury at AEW All Out 2026

As noted before, Steven Border suffered a serious head injury at this past September’s AEW All Out 2026 event in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. AEW provided updates during the show stating that Borden was conscious and responsive at the hospital and AEW CEO Tony Khan stated during the post-show scrum stating that the CT scan and all medical tests for Borden came back good. Tony Schiavone had stated in a recent episode of his What Happened When podcast that Borden is currently feeling fine after a talk he had with him.

A recent episode of the 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff podcast featured co-host Eric Bischoff giving his thoughts about Borden’s injury and criticized those in AEW for allowing Borden to wrestle on AEW television claiming that it is too early into his wrestling career for it.

“He’s [Steve Borden] green, he should never [have done that spot]. Who let him do that spot? Of all of these so-called veterans and guys who should know better, that are collecting a paycheck…why didn’t somebody say, ‘That’s not really the right thing for this kid to be doing at this stage of his career’? He actually shouldn’t even be wrestling on TV yet. He’s a deer in the headlights. You have to learn, you have to gain experience, you have to develop the confidence, not just memorise what you do in the ring.

You need the reps and the confidence, so that when you do put yourself into a position, where your safety is at risk or your opponent’s safety is at risk, that you’re a hundred percent confident, because you’ve done it thousands of times. This kid shouldn’t even be in a main event on television.”

AEW executive and talent QT Marshall recently responded on Twitter defending Borden stating that he has been training since 2024 and has been working in the indies and dark matches in AEW.

“Not sure of the context but Steven has been training since 2024.

Did a camp with us and then trained with Darby/NJPW Dojo. Did independents and dark matches.

Just because he’s not publicly documenting his training/every event he works on, doesn’t mean he’s not putting in work.”

In response to a fan who stated that Marshall was giving Bischoff the response he wanted, Marshall responded back stating:

“This is an opportunity to inform not only Eric, but everyone else out there. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just like to point out the facts.”
