Entertainment Weekly reports that Lionsgate and WWE Films have released a trailer for Leprechaun: Origins. There isn’t a shot of Hornswoggle as the title creature but it does show a more serious approach to the material … something that hasn’t been done before with this series.
The film will be released on Digital HD, Video On Demand, and Pay-Per-View on August 26. It’s the seventh Leprechaun film and features Dylan “Hornsoggle” Postl replacing Warwick Davis. It will then arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on September 30. It was directed by Zach Lipovsky and written by Harris Wilkinson. It stars Stephanie Bennett (Grave Encounters 2), Andrew Dunbar (Alien Trespass), Melissa Roxburgh (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days) and Brendan Fletcher (Freddy vs Jason).
Here’s a synopsis: “Leprechaun: Origins concerns two young couples who, while backpacking through the Irish countryside, quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be be when [a] town’s residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland’s most famous legends is a terrifying reality.”
