As seen at the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view on Sunday night, John Cena became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Kane, Cesaro, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio and Roman Reigns in a ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
This marks Cena’s 15th reign as WWE Champion. Obviously, they didn’t pull the swerve and went with the original plan all along which was Cena winning the title and going on to face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam for the WWE World Heavyweight title. Normally when plans leak out, they change things up and pull a “swerve” but they decided against that this time. Trust us when we tell you there was a lot of talk over the last few days on how to go about it and whether to switch things up.
We’ll have more on this shortly.
