— As we reported late last night here on the website, there is said to be a feeling in WWE that the reason behind the recent increase in eye poke injuries during matches is because the company has been pushing talent to become more aggressive in the ring.
The popular opinion is that this has resulted in many people rushing their work, which leads to added sloppiness during matches, ultimately resulting in more eye pokes, potato shots, black eyes, concussions and things like separated shoulders.
It’s also being said that talent was recently told to work with the idea of barely missing on their strikes. The feeling is that throwing hard, fast strikes and just missing is leading to an increase in injuries.
— There continues to be talk within WWE that Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns will headline WrestleMania 31 next year. The belief is that Lesnar will defeat John Cena to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam (or Night of Champions), building to the moment that he drops the belt to Reigns as Reigns’ crowning moment as the new top baby face in the company.
While there has been no confirmation that Lesnar is defeating Cena at SummerSlam, the word going around is that it is going to be a big show and that September’s Night Of Champions pay-per-view, which will also feature Lesnar, will be just as big to try and persuade people to renew their expiring six-month WWE Network subscriptions.
It also appears that the originally planned Roman Reigns vs. Triple H match at SummerSlam has been delayed as Reigns is currently penciled in to face Randy Orton on the show. It’s possible that Reigns vs. Triple H will take place at the Night of Champions or Hell in a Cell PPVs as a way to entice people to renew their WWE Network subscriptions. As noted, there is a lot of fear right now that once the original six month subscriptions expire, many fans will not be renewing.
