According to a report from the Fight Network, Alberto Del Rio is close with WWE to a settlement on the lawsuit filed by the former star against the company. As you may recall, Del Rio filed suit against the company over his non-compete clause after he was fired in August for unprofessional conduct for slapping Cody Barbierri after Barbierri made a joke Del Rio felt was racist. The non-compete clause prohibits Del Rio from wrestling in the US for a year.
Del Rio filed suit against the company as a result, calling the clause unconstitutional. There are no details on what the settlement may entail.
Del Rio recently confirmed that he slapped Barbierri over a racist comment. A Reddit user who claims to be a former worker backstage for WWE claims that Barbierri has appeared on TV before, playing CM Punk’s doctor in December 2012 and January 2013. The Reddit user has previously revealed several scripts from WWE programming and other news proven to be legit.
