— As noted earlier here on the website, there is speculation that WWE is giving Heath Slater some time off to deal with his legal issues regarding an alleged misdemeanor assault that took place at a WrestleMania 27 after-party in 2011. Slater hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since last month.
Slater last appeared at the WWE SmackDown tapings on November 25, which occurred a week before his arrest warrant was issued. Slater was replaced by NXT worker Tyler Breeze on WWE’s current holiday tour.
After the arrest warrant was issued, Slater proclaimed his innocence and said he was confident that the charges would be dismissed. WWE issued its own statement and said action would be taken after they received the details of the arrest warrant.
— According to sources, there is no backstage heat on Brock Lesnar over his potentially leaving after his current WWE deal expires. Officials are still negotiating with Lesnar hoping he will agree to a new deal but if he leaves, there are said to be no hard feelings.
The source adds that tonight’s RAW appearance will be his final unannounced appearance before WrestleMania. Lesnar has been advertised for the show, but not officially announced. Since Lesnar brings big business, they will try to maximize the impact of Lesnar’s remaining appearances.
