Here is another report from the Mick Foley: Cheap Pops taping for the WWE Network at Full Sail University:
I just returned from the Mick Foley cheap pops show at Full Sail live. the line for the show was decently long and it seem like everyone in a line around me were big fully fans as they were all talking about their favorite Foley moments.
The venue was very nice and the set was really cool. Jim Ross opened the show. He told some funny stories from the days of Cowboy Bill Watts and Leroy McGuirk. Ross also told a great Bobby Heenan story. He then talked about how much he appreciated his career in the wrestling business. He mentioned that Jerry Lawler and Paul Heyman were his favorite people to work with. Ross also told him very moving stories from his childhood that life lessons he’s learned along the way. Ross encouraged people that once you get into the business you always have a backup plan. He told the audience that there was no dream that they could not achieve, noting he was a chubby farm boy that turned his dream into a 40 year career.
Ross also reminded the crowd how important it was to stay healthy, mentioning that he quit smoking a year and a half ago, hasn’t eaten fried food in months, and has not had a drop to drink since the Royal Rumble. Hee took some questions and then introduced Noelle Foley, who then introduced Mick Foley.
Mick came out to a very loud reaction. From start to finish, Foley was pure gold. He told some fantastic stories and threw in some jokes, and of course worked for some cheap pops.
The highlight for me though was when Mick invited his son out on stage to play the drums. Mick told the crowd that his son what’s a self-taught drummer and also autistic. It was a truly touching moment. Foley talked about touring other places and I would really encourage everyone to go see him. He is truly a class act and clearly is a man that loves his family. It was the best 25 dollars I have ever spent.
