UPDATE: As reported in our RAW report, Daniel Bryan appeared on RAW and said that he is relinquishing the WWE Intercontinental Title. Bryan revealed that he had an MRI last week and doesn’t know how long he will be out; it could be weeks or even months.
As such, he said that the WWE Universe deserves to have people fighting for the title, mentioning Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose specifically. He then left the title on the mat and left the ring to “Thank You Bryan” chants.
WWE did not mention at the time how they will determine a new champion.
ORIGINAL: There’s nothing confirmed, so take this as a rumor for now. there has been a lot of talk backstage that Daniel Bryan will be vacating the Intercontinental Title if he is not cleared this week to return to the ring.
As previously reported, Bryan is currently scheduled for both RAW and WWE Payback. While it would be assumed that he would be competing at Payback, there are of course other possibilities that don’t involve in-ring action.
