According to sources, Sheamus’ Money in the Bank win is the result of his planned win from last year’s event being derailed. Sheamus was intended to win the briefcase last year at Money in the Bank, but Daniel Bryan’s injuries resulted in some shuffling of the card. Sheamus was put in the WWE World Heavyweight Title ladder match, with John Cena winning based on the idea that he would be the best choice to drop the title to Lesnar. Seth Rollins was picked to get the Money in the Bank shot to help elevate him.
Sheamus was also supposed to turn heel and then face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania last year, but that was cancelled when Bryan was elevated into the World Title match due to the fact that the crowds weren’t into Batista as a babyface.
