WWE announced today, via press release, that they raised $213,000 with Answer The Call for the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund. As part of WWE’s community outreach initiatives during SummerSlam week in New York City, the company partnered with Charitybuzz.com for an online auction that featured 40 unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences with WWE Superstars and Divas. Proceeds from the auction will provide assistance to the families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police and EMS Personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. Stephanie McMahon had the following to say about the achievement…
“We are thankful to the athletes, celebrities and fans, all of whom came together to support the families of New York’s Bravest and Finest – true heroes who selflessly serve the citizens of this great city. WWE has a rich history in New York, from WrestleMania 1 to WrestleMania 29 to this year’s SummerSlam, and it is especially meaningful for WWE to give back so close to home.”
