Lucha Underground’s just-announced second season will be done on a lower budget. The site reports that the show will begin filming in December for the announced early 2016 premiere date. The site notes that the budget will be cut down from the first season, when each episode cost $400,000. However, it will be done in ways that fans won’t notice the difference.
The show will tape at the same Los Angeles location, and while not much is confirmed at this point there is a believe that there won’t be as many shows as the first season had. The promotion has been talking with Mexican TV networkas and had been in talks with Televisa Channel 5. While it isn’t known whether a deal was reached, if so that would give them more television exposure in Mexico than WWE, CMLL or AAA.
