According to sources, there could be some changes on the way for next year’s Slammy Awards. There was concern that this year’s awards saw a lot of big winners — The Rock, Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Sting and John Cena — receiving awards that they weren’t in attendance to accept. It gave the impression that the awards aren’t important enough for the top stars.
One of the proposed changes is to do the voting a week ahead of time so they’ll know the winners in advance and can arrange to bring them in, or send a film crew for a pre-taped acceptance. Another possibility is moving the awards to WrestleMania Week when most stars are already in town.
The voting for this year’s awards were legit, with no skewing of the results to favor who WWE wanted.
