Despite a report to the contrary, WWE has not tried to contact Jeff Hardy or Rey Mysterio about a possible return for the Brand Split. The WON reports that despite a report from Forbes last month which claimed WWE had reached out to Hardy and Mysterio among many others for a return due to the upcoming Draft, the company has not reached out to those two as they are under contract to TNA and Lucha Underground, respectively.
As previously noted, the company has been “aggressively” scouting indy talent, as well as Lucha Underground talent that is contractually able to leave. WWE is squeamish about potentially bringing Kurt Angle back, as they have had high-profile incidents involving Adam Rose, Jerry Lawler and Roman Reigns in recent weeks and Angle has a past of run-ins with the law, largely over DUIs.
