ProWrestlingSheet.com reports that former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard stopped a man who pulled a gun on him last night at a Florida gas station, who was planning to rob it. Gaspard and his Cryme Tyme tag team partner JTG reportedly stopped at the gas station after a wrestling show to grab a drink, and everyone else stayed in the car.
Inside the gas station, a man approached Gaspard and forcefully told Gaspard to buy him a beer. Gaspard advised him to change his tone, and the man pulled what reportedly looked like a gun from his pants. Gaspard said that he thought, “F*** this, I’m not dying in Florida.” The report then says he got in the man’s face and got him to back down.
The assailant then told Gaspard he should leave because he was planning to rob the station. Gaspard then claims he rushed the would-be robber and forced the gun out of his hands. The robber then tried to make his way to the door, and Gaspard then slammed his head into it. He pulled the robber outside and put him in a rear-naked choke hold. JTG and the other people in the card then saw what was happening and called the police.
Gaspard then immobilized the assailant and started searching for more weapons. He then searched the original gun and saw that it was only an air-soft gun. Gaspard said, “I thought it was a real gun the entire time and honestly, I just didn’t want anyone to get hurt. I just kept thinking about how I wanted to make sure I got home to my son.”
According to a rep for the Coral Springs Police Department, the man in question was taken into custody for attempted robbery after police arrived on the scene. No other information on the incident was available.
