During a recent interview with Kevin Kelly, New Japan Pro Wrestling owner Takaaki Kidani revealed NJPW is currently considering running more events in the US if the upcoming G1 Special ends up being a success.
“For this year, we only plan to visit the United States, July 1 and 2, but if this event is a success, we already have a plan to (once again) go back to the United States next year and long-term.”
The event itself will occur between July 1-2 at Long Beach, California and act as a showcase for this year’s G1 Climax tournament. It will also be the first time in company history of them holding a show in the US and not be a joint event with another US-based company.
