Cody Rhodes has officially signed a deal with Ring of Honor for the long term, according to a recent episode of the MLW podcast. Rhodes had previously revealed during an interview with Sports Illustrated that he was in the process of finding a new home for his career once his post-WWE indie tour was over. He will likely still also work for independent and international wrestling promotions (similar to deals that other ROH wrestlers have), but signing with ROH means he is most likely done with Impact Wrestling (and obviously WWE).
During an interview with 107.7 The Bone in San Francisco, Cody revealed potential plans WWE was considering had he stayed in the company. It involved both the draft and the idea of having him be on both brands. One brand would get the Stardust character while the other brand would get a rebranded Cody Rhodes character. Rhodes stated while he loved the idea, one specific person hated it and implied that that person was Vince.
“At one point the plan was for me to be Stardust on one brand, and Cody Rhodes on another brand. I thought that was a really great idea. Absolutely wanted to do it! Everybody wanted to do it except for one person who will remain nameless, but that one person has the main vote.”
