As previously reported, Harley Race broke both of his legs from an injury suffered last week. During a recent interview with the Bill Apter podcast show, Leland Race gave some details and a medical update to his father’s current condition.
Leland stated his father originally didn’t want medical treatment after suffering the injury to his legs due to him thinking the pain wasn’t serious. The family had to persuade him to go to a local hospital for medical tests where it was discovered he suffered four big fractures to his legs. Out of the four fractures, only one was considered to be serious enough requiring surgery to be done as soon as possible.
Harley was then transported to another hospital for the surgeries which required several blood transfusions. Harley’s right leg required several screws in order to be stabilized while the fractures on his left leg were not considered serious enough to require surgery and could heal naturally.
Leland stated while the surgeries occurred on a Friday, by Saturday Harley was healthy enough to start physical therapy. By Sunday, Harley was progressing at a fast pace and Leland hinted at his hospital stay might be a short one.
