Here are WWE’s plans for the upcoming Mae Young Classic women’s tournament, according to PWInsider:
– The 32-woman tournament will be taped on July 13 and July 14 at Full Sail University.
– A “preview special” will air on August 20.
– The full first round of the tournament (16 matches) will be released on WWE Network in the final week of August.
– The second round will be released in the first week of September.
– The current plan is to hold the finals live on Tuesday, September 12. SmackDown Live is in Las Vegas that night, so they could possibly do the finals after SmackDown from the same arena (instead of 205 Live).
– No word on how they will do rounds 3 and 4 of the tournament. Round 3 (4 matches) would presumably be taped, but the semi-finals could possibly also take place live on the same night.
Jim Ross and Lita have been rumored to be the commentary team, but that’s not confirmed yet.
