During a recent episode of the E&C’d Pod Of Awesomeness podcast show, Mike Bennett revealed Kevin Owens played a big role in both him and Maria Kanellis getting signed by the WWE.
Bennett stated when their Impact Wrestling contracts expired in January, they were working for free while trying to get new deals done. Kevin Owens eventually heard about this situation and told Bennett “What the hell are you doing?! Come here!”
Shortly afterwards both stopped working for Impact and Bennett contacted Triple H for a WWE job offer. By March, both were given WWE contracts and promised to skip NXT in favor of a main roster debut.
Bennett later stated it wasn’t until recently him and Maria were told their debut would be at June’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view. While backstage at the event, they saw Owens who was happy for their arrival and said “I told you!” when it came to getting a deal in the WWE.
