Since last year, the WWE has been dealing with a lawsuit filed against them by both Raven and Buff Bagwell in regards to the WWE Network and royalties from footage on the service. The lawsuit’s main complaint revolves around the WWE owing former talents unpaid royalties due to the wording of old contracts which should have covered the Network under the “technology yet to be created” terms. The lawsuit also argues the WWE replacing DVD royalties with the WWE Network should not be a legal way of avoiding having to pay royalty fees for old footage shown on the Network.
In a recent update, PWInsider reports the WWE filed a new legal response to the lawsuit on June 29th in the U.S. District Court of Connecticut. Similar to the last time, the WWE wants the case dismissed and believes they legally do not owe Raven nor Bagwell any new royalty fees from WWE and WCW footage shown on the WWE Network.
