WWE’s trademark filings for “Matt Hardy” and “Jeff Hardy” were rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, according to PWInsider. GFW was also rejected recently in their attempts at several “Broken” trademarks.
The report stated WWE filed for trademarks on June 19th and were assigned a trademark attorney on July 27th bypassing the usual three month wait for applications. For some comparisons, GFW filed their trademark requests on April 28th but were only assigned a trademark attorney on July 27th.
Similar to GFW’s trademark applications, WWE’s applications were given an initial rejection due to Matt Hardy filing for a “Broken Matt Hardy” trademark first and issues with the trademarks covering legal names. Unlike with GFW, WWE quickly got consent from Matt and Jeff Hardy to use their legal names for the next round of trademark rulings.
WWE also filed for a “Hardy Boyz” trademark in April, which will enter a public opposition stage later this month.
