The planned main event for WrestleMania 34 is still Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.
During the planning stage for SummerSlam, WWE was rumored to have considered the idea of a Roman Reigns vs. John Cena match at Wrestlemania 34 after Brock Lesnar’s original SummerSlam plans were changed. Lesnar was originally planned to face Braun Strowman in a singles match for the Universal Championship, with WWE considering the idea of Strowman winning the title. That match will now take place at No Mercy on September 24.
The teasing of a potential feud between Reigns and John Cena during Monday’s RAW signaled that WWE likely wants to do a major match between the two prior to WrestleMania 34.
As of now, with Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract set to expire after WrestleMania and his future up in the air, the plan is for Roman Reigns to win the title from Lesnar in another mega star coronation attempt by WWE.
