As previously reported, this year’s Bound For Glory PPV and following Impact Wrestling TV tapings will be held in Ottawa, Canada.
Besides Anthem’s headquarters being located in Toronto, Canada, this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated that another reason why Anthem wants more events to be held in Canada is due to them wanting to distance Impact Wrestling from its negative TNA roots.
The Observer’s Dave Meltzer stated Anthem’s officials feel that as long as they stay in Orlando, Impact Wrestling will be unable to shake off its negative TNA past which they feel is hurting the company. However, one downside of this that Meltzer points out is that most Impact Wrestling viewers that watch regularly are likely die-hard TNA fans and it’s currently harder than ever to bring in new viewers to a non-WWE product in a wrestling market that is already saturated with WWE shows.
Anthem’s current eventual plan is to move Impact’s headquarters from Nashville to Canada.
