At a pre-Wrestle Kingdom 12 event earlier today, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced a collaboration with Spike Chunsoft to bring licensed content to a Fire Pro Wrestling game for the first time ever. The long running 2D wrestling series has been going since 1989 on the NEC PC Engine, but always relied on a combination of fake wrestlers who you know who they really are and a robust create a wrestler mode. Now, this will allow official themes, entrances, parts, logos and also a story mode where you start as a young lion in NJPW before challenging for the IWGP title.
No date has been announced for the NJPW pack to become available, but Fire Pro Wrestling World has been officially released on PC through Steam, finishing it’s early access period and will be coming to the Playstation 4 later this year.
