Ethan Carter III, who finished up with Impact at last week’s TV tapings and is officially a free agent, was spotted at the WWE Performance Center on Tuesday, PWInsider says.
It’s been heavily rumored that he’s WWE-bound and this is a pretty good indication that that’s the case.
EC3 spent time in WWE’s various developmental promotions (Ohio Valley Wrestling, Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT) from 2007-2013, where he used the name Derrick Bateman. He filed for a trademark for the EC3 / Ethan Carter III name recently, so it is possible that he uses that in WWE, though WWE has been known to prefer using their own names and gimmicks so that they can own them.
In another interesting note, EC3 pulled out of an indie show scheduled for January 28, which is the night of the Royal Rumble, so take that for what it’s worth. The indie promotion, Renegade Wrestling Revolution announced EC3 wouldn’t be there on Facebook, saying:
BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! Do to reasons out of RWR control EC3 will not be able to attend RWR “OVER THE TOP”. EC3 has said he will be back to RWR in the near future. We here at RWR wish EC3 the best and will see him soon.
