The XFL Is Set to Return in 2020

Vince McMahon is planning on bringing back the XFL at some point in the year 2020, PWInsider is reporting.

The reason for the 2020 launch is to better prepare for and plan the league, as well as hire coaches, players and others. The original XFL was officially announced in February 2000, then played its first game on February 3, 2001. It was a relatively rushed launch and Vince McMahon obviously doesn’t want to make the same mistakes again.

WWE’s production team has been working on videos to promote the upcoming announcement and relaunch of the XFL, PWInsider says, so an announcement could be coming soon.

Last month, Vince McMahon sold over $100 million in WWE stock to fund a new, separate company from WWE called “Alpha Entertainment,” which in WWE’s words (in their SEC filing), “Mr. McMahon established to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football.”

Alpha Entertainment also filed for XFL trademarks on December 16.

Looks like this is actually gonna happen again, I guess…
