Ticketmaster has apparently sent out emails to people who bought pre-sale tickets for the WWE Backlash PPV on May 6, saying that the previously Raw-only PPV will now be a dual-brand PPV and will feature both Raw and SmackDown wrestlers. Backlash will be the first PPV after WrestleMania.
While some are speculating that this could be the beginning of the end for brand-specific PPVs, I feel like a more likely scenario is that WWE may be planning another “superstar shake-up” after WrestleMania, like they did last year, and they don’t want to have to worry about messing with the next PPV. It could also just mean that wrestlers who are currently on Raw may be moved to SmackDown in a roster shake-up by the time Backlash comes.
