There has been a rumor going around, started by Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, that WWE is looking to sign Rey Mysterio for a WrestleMania match against John Cena.
Barrasso also reported that Rey Mysterio was in Los Angeles yesterday to negotiate a new deal. PWInsider says that several sources told them that Mysterio was not actually seen in LA last night.
However, it is true that WWE is involved in ongoing negotiations with Mysterio and he could be back soon. Triple H is reportedly leading the negotiations for WWE and is the “point person,” according to PWInsider. The “sticking point” in the negotiations is reportedly that Mysterio does not want to work a full-time schedule at this point in his career, while WWE is pushing for him to do so. Mysterio’s Royal Rumble appearance was a one time deal for now.
Cena has been rumored for a while to be facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania. On Raw, however, he mentioned the Undertaker, but said he was told that a match against him was “impossible.” We’ll see what happens, I guess…
