Alberto El Patron has been released by Impact Wrestling, they announced today.
Impact’s statement simply says: “IMPACT Wrestling announced today that it has terminated its agreement with Alberto El Patron, effective immediately.”
Alberto reportedly no-showed the Impact vs. Lucha Underground show yesterday, where he was scheduled to be part of the main event. He apparently claimed to be sick, but the word backstage among wrestlers was that he blew off the show for whatever reason, according to PWInsider.
He was scheduled to face Austin Aries for the World Title at the Impact Redemption PPV on April 22.
Alberto reportedly met with Vince McMahon last month and Vince is said to be a fan of his. Whether or not there’s any WWE connection here remains to be seen.
