Brock Lesnar’s new WWE deal is short-term, according to both Dave Meltzer and PWInsider. PWInsider says that the new deal may even just be an extension of his previous deal.
There has been some speculation that Lesnar may have only signed for another match (or maybe two), where he will drop the Universal Championship to Roman Reigns in Saudi Arabia on April 27 in front of an almost certainly more receptive crowd.
However, according to Dave Meltzer, Lesnar’s new WWE deal will allow him to fight in the UFC for at least one fight. Lesnar still has about 6-7 months left on his USADA suspension if he gets back into the USADA testing pool now, so he is still a while away from fighting in the UFC. So that would seem to indicate that his new WWE deal is for at least 6-7 months, and likely longer, if the UFC stipulation is in fact in the deal.
Lesnar vs. Reigns Match
There have been rumors that the Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns finish was changed during the actual match, with Vince McMahon calling an audible when he saw the type of reaction that Reigns was getting. However, according to Dave Meltzer, this isn’t true and the change in the finish was likely made in the past week or so, but not at the last minute. Paul Heyman actually said on Raw last week that if Lesnar lost at WrestleMania, we would never see Lesnar or Heyman on Raw ever again, which could possibly indicate that Heyman knew that Lesnar was going to win the match at that point.
The finish of the match was kept secret from almost everyone in WWE, including the writing team and the referee, who didn’t know the finish until the match was in progress, according to Meltzer.
