Kane suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon at the SmackDown before Extreme Rules, according to PWInsider. He was in a walking boot backstage at the Extreme Rules PPV and that’s why WWE did the angle where Team Hell No was attacked backstage by the Bludgeon Brothers. Kane did briefly enter the match later in the show, but only for a quick chokeslam spot.
WWE said that Kane has a “broken ankle” on WWE.com, but that’s just a storyline injury and the real injury is not quite as serious.
But either way, Kane is not expected back on TV anytime soon. Election day for Knox County mayor is August 2 and Kane is expected to win, so he may be away for a while.
