Stephanie to Make “Historic Announcement” on Raw – All Women PPV?

WWE announced that Stephanie McMahon will make a “historic announcement” on Raw this Monday.

All Women PPV?

The last time Stephanie made a “historic announcement,” it was to announce the first women’s Royal Rumble match, so there is speculation that she could be announcing something like an all-women PPV or WWE Network special event.

There were rumors last week, first reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet, that WWE was considering an all-women show some time this fall in order to “make up” for women being banned from the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia.

PWInsider is now reporting that they’ve heard the same rumor and several women wrestlers have told them that they were recently told that an all-women event is something that WWE was working on.

The show could take place in September at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY, PWInsider says. Time will tell if it’ll be a “regular PPV” or WWE Network special, though there isn’t really any actual difference, I guess. Hell in a Cell is scheduled for September 16, then WWE has their “Super Show-Down” show in Australia on October 6, then Survivor Series on November 18. So there is technically a PPV opening for October, since Super Show-Down will be more of a Greatest Royal Rumble-type show than an “actual PPV” and it will be airing in the middle of the night in the US.

Women’s Tag Team Championships?

Other speculation is about the possibility of tag team championships being added to the women’s division. This would probably require tag titles for each brand, though, and the women’s roster maybe doesn’t seem deep enough for two tag divisions, but we’ll see.

Sasha Banks has helped fuel this speculation by posting a photo on her Instagram story of the first WWF Women’s Tag Team Champions, Velvet McIntyre and Princess Victoria, who won the titles in 1983. The titles were made defunct in 1989.
