WWE has “great interest” in NJPW’s current IWGP United States Champion, Juice Robinson, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Robinson was signed to a WWE developmental contract in 2011 and wrestled in NXT as CJ Parker until 2015, when he requested his release.
Parker won the IWGP US title earlier this month at the NJPW G1 Special in San Francisco, defeating Jay White. He’s been on the last few episodes of “Being the Elite,” which has also raised his profile.
Robinson is reportedly not under contract with NJPW, so WWE would be able to approach him without it being tampering.
