WWE Crown Jewel 2026 Event Status Update – Commentary Team Reportedly To Call The Show From WWE HQ, U.S. Embassy In Riyadh Issues Statement

WWE is currently scheduled to hold their Crown Jewel 2026 event this Saturday at The Venue (ANB Arena) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This upcoming event’s status in Saudi Arabia had been uncertain following the United States Department issuing an official update this past September to their existing Level 3 travel advisory in regards to Saudi Arabia over the on-going Iran War. The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh had issued a security alert this past October warning their citizens in the country following missile attacks from the Houthis on the King Khalid International airport. The U.S. State Department had issued an order that same month requiring all non-essential diplomatic personnel and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia immediately due to the volatile situation. WWE has offered hazard pay to their crew members who travel and work at the event and would be sending a significantly smaller than usual crew for safety reasons. WWE also had plans in place for a “major part” of the event’s broadcast to be remotely engineered from WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE’s announce team for the event was not among the staff who had traveled and are currently in Saudi Arabia.

Those spoken to reportedly stated that the commentary team will be calling the action from WWE’s headquarters in Stamford.

The U.S. Embassy in Riyadh issued a new official statement earlier today about WWE’s upcoming event in Saudi Arabia.

“American sports diplomacy comes to Riyadh! We are thrilled to share the excitement as WWE Crown Jewel returns to Saudi Arabia this weekend! Crown Jewel is entirely created, owned, and produced by @WWE, a wholly American professional wrestling promotion headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. American sports entertainment exports create shared unforgettable experiences, strengthening the bonds between the American and Saudi people.”
