Curt Hawkins was interviewed recently on Sam Roberts’ wrestling podcast and revealed that he has been out of action for the past couple of months because of a hernia, but he hopes to be cleared to return as early as this week.
Hawkins’ last match was at a WWE house show on August 26.
On the podcast, Hawkins said, “I got a hernia, I’m pretty sure picking up broski (Zack Ryder) and slamming him at a live event. I’m hoping to be cleared very very soon. It’s a minor surgery but it’s still surgery and a big deal and stuff, so I’m hoping to be cleared this week.”
Hawkins also said that while he’s been injured, he has been shadowing WWE producers backstage like Tyson Kidd, Dean Malenko and Jamie Noble. That’s also what Jason Jordan and Matt Hardy have been doing while they’ve been out with injuries. Hawkins said that being a producer has been a great learning experience, but that he doesn’t think it’s something he wants to do at 33 years old and feels like he is in the prime of his wrestling career.
