Cormier Calls Out Lesnar
Daniel Cormier called out Brock Lesnar last night at UFC 230 after defending the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Derrick Lewis. Cormier won in the second round, forcing Lewis to tap via a choke hold.
After the fight, Cormier was interviewed in the octagon and said, “Brock Lesnar! When you come, bring that brand new WWE title. I feel like being a WWE champion too. Let’s go! Let’s go, Brock. Bring that belt with you if you come to my house.”

Dana White Comments
UFC president Dana White said that Brock Lesnar “should be” Cormier’s next opponent. In an interview with ESPN after the show last night, White was asked if Lesnar would be Cormier’s next opponent and he said:
“Should be. I mean, you don’t know what happens. I can’t predict anything, but yeah. I haven’t talked to Brock tonight but I haven’t looked at my phone either.
“Brock and I haven’t talked in a little while. He was doing his WWE stuff and we’ll see. There’s no timeline.”
Daniel Cormier has said repeatedly that he plans to retire from the UFC before his 40th birthday on March 20. That would mean that he has one more fight left, which will likely be against Lesnar or Jon Jones. Last month, Cormier said, “The one opponent that would matter to me most is Jones, because he’s beaten me twice. The one that would mean more financially would be Lesnar. I think I would always pick the one that means more, but my wife might have something to say about that.”
Lesnar’s WWE and UFC Contract Status
Lesnar has not signed any contract with the UFC as of now. He will be eligible to fight again from his USADA suspension in January.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Crown Jewel was supposed to be Lesnar’s final WWE appearance for now. The plan was for Roman Reigns to retain his title at the show, but plans were changed after Reigns revealed his leukemia diagnosis.
Lesnar will face AJ Styles at Survivor Series on November 18, then will have at least one more match, where he would presumably drop the Universal Championship. That would likely be either at the Royal Rumble or at WrestleMania and the obvious guess for the person to take the title would be Braun Strowman (but who knows…).
If Lesnar still has the Universal Championship until WrestleMania, it could lead to a UFC Champ vs. Universal Champ fight, and WWE could have a situation where their champion is beaten in a “real fight.”
