NXT TakeOver on WrestleMania weekend will now take place on Friday, April 5 instead of Saturday, April 6. WWE first announced the change in an email to people who bought WrestleMania week travel packages, then released this statement to the public:
WWE will be going back to its previous WrestleMania Week schedule with NXT TakeOver on Friday, April 5 and the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, April 6. We believe this better serves our fans.
The 2016 TakeOver was held on a Friday, with the Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday.
This means that TakeOver will no longer be going head to head with the ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard on Saturday, April 6, which is probably best for WWE and for fans who want to watch both shows live. TakeOver will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the G1 Supercard will take place at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.
