WWE has signed a deal to move the WWE Network to a new video platform, Endeavor Streaming, according to Variety.
“Endeavor Streaming’s best-in-class technology enables us to offer more features, elevate the user experience and provides us even more opportunity to delight our fans around the world,” Vince McMahon is quoted as saying.
Endeavor Streaming’s other clients include UFC Fight Pass, the NFL, NBA, Euroleague, Univision, Sportsnet, Sky Sports, MSG, National Geographic, and Big Ten Network.
WWE’s old deal with Disney Streaming Services, which had been in place since WWE Network launched in 2014, expired at the end of 2018 and WWE did not renew the deal.
WWE also signed a deal with Massive Interactive, which is “a user-interface design firm” and is “part of our evolving strategy to own more of the WWE Network technology stack,” WWE said.
There’s no word yet on when we might start seeing some changes. Hopefully they’ll finally ditch Flash video… and hopefully start streaming at 1080p instead of 720p.
