WWE released the following statement to media and on WWE.com about the reports of Dean Ambrose leaving WWE:
“Dean Ambrose (Jonathan Good) will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April. We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans. We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”
As reported this morning, Ambrose turned down a contract renewal from WWE and will be leaving the company after WrestleMania.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com pointed out that WWE typically says that they don’t publicly discuss contractual or employment status of wrestlers, so WWE’s statement seems strange and is not typical at all. Hopefully this isn’t an elaborate “work” by WWE.
No, in fact often when I ask about the status of a wrestler or employee, WWE will say that they "don't publicly discuss the contractual or employment status" of so and so. https://t.co/mcTSViSIGv
