Jim Ross Says He’s Leaving WWE

Jim Ross announced on the latest episode of his podcast that he’ll be leaving WWE when his contract expires on March 29.

Ross said:

“After talking a couple of weeks ago with Vince McMahon, we have mutually agreed that I need to move on. I will not be returning to WWE after the 29th of March. I’m leaving with great thoughts, very positive. I made a lot of money. Vince was amazing to Jan and myself. He set us up for life, financially, for which I can never repay him.”

JR said that he’s not done and “still wants to play the game,” hinting that he could end up somewhere else soon…

“I still want to play the game. I still want to stay busy. I’m 67, I still feel I can get the job done doing wrestling play-by-play and I want to explore that opportunity and possibility. I’ll be moving on in a positive way. Nothing but good things to say about everyone involved. You know, I have my critics in WWE as we all do, as people do when you’re there for very long. It’s a very unique community and I have no regrets. The smartest thing I ever did was come to work for Vince McMahon in 1993.

“The next month or so is gonna be very interesting in my life. When people write you off and believe you’ve fulfilled your usefulness, it can do a lot of things for you. It can, like it does me, it can make me want to work harder, work smarter, and get better at what I do. So in other words, I get a little pissed off.”
