WWE reached out and made an offer to Joey Ryan recently, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, but the expectation right now is that he is going to end up in AEW.
Joey Ryan was officially freed from his Lucha Underground contract last month and is finally able to sign with another company.
Once that happened, WWE reportedly reached out to him to see if he would be interested in moving to Orlando, wrestling for a few years, then moving into a coaching position. According to Dave Meltzer, the way it was explained to him was that Ryan would have definitely taken the offer if he was 29 years old, but he’s 39 and would be taking a pay cut in NXT, since he makes a lot more now wrestling for indies. So it’s something that Ryan is probably not going to do.
Ryan is a regular on Being the Elite and was a pretty big part of All In last year, so the expectation is that he’s going to end up in AEW.
