Former WWE wrestler Ashley Massaro died this morning at age 39.
Officials would not release information on the cause of death other than it was “non-criminal,” according to TMZ.
According to The Blast, a rescue call came in for her home in Smithtown, NY this morning at 5:23 AM and she was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Massaro debuted in WWE in 2005, winning the WWE Diva Search and worked there until her release in 2008. In 2007, Massaro feuded with WWE Women’s Champion Melina, wrestling her at WrestleMania 23, but was unable to capture the title.
WWE released this statement:
We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.
