NJPW officials have not contacted Kenny Omega for any events despite his current contract with All Elite Wrestling allowing him to work for the company and other promotions in Japan. Meanwhile, Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho, who are also under AEW contract, have worked with NJPW.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NJPW did consider at one point of contacting Omega for an appearance at their G1 Climax event in Dallas, Texas to help boost sluggish ticket sales but decided against it in the end. But even if they did want him for the show, he possibly would not have appeared, similar to how Jon Moxley’s AEW contract prevented him from working NJPW shows in the US.
Omega himself confirmed his current uncertainty with NJPW during last night’s Being The Elite Mailbag panel at the Starrcast III convention in Chicago, Illinois. When asked a question regarding a potential return to NJPW, Omega stated “when pigs fly.”
Omega recently accepted a booking from DDT Pro-Wrestling for their November 3rd event in Tokyo, Japan.
