Marty Scurll has signed a new contract with Ring of Honor, according to PWInsider. Scurll’s last ROH contract expired in November and the two sides had been in talks for a new deal for months.
There’s no word on the length of the new contract, but PWInsider speculated that it was at least for two years, since ROH has been re-signing wrestlers to multi-year contracts recently. Dave Meltzer also reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Scurll was being offered “WWE main roster money” while only working about 40 dates per year, as opposed to WWE’s much tougher schedule. Meltzer added that it’s the highest-paying contract in ROH history.
Meltzer also reported that the deal will allow him to also wrestle in NJPW and in the NWA. Meltzer also speculated that it’s possible that he could even work some dates for AEW, saying, “the door contractually would not be closed to AEW.”
Head Booker of ROH
Scurll will now also be the head booker of Ring of Honor as of this weekend, PWInsider is reporting, saying that Scurll was “heavily involved in all aspects” of ROH’s show last night in Atlanta.
ROH’s previous head booker, Hunter “Delirious” Johnston will remain with the company and will be working in creative with Scurll, but Scurll will be in the lead position.
